What to expect on this stage
This stage of the Portuguese Coastal Camino follows the Atlantic coast almost the whole way from Póvoa de Varzim to Esposende — mostly flat, largely on wooden boardwalks above the dunes, with a few short stretches on quiet roads. It's one of the easier days on the coastal route, and a good one to enjoy at a relaxed pace. The highlight comes right at the end: crossing the 19th-century iron bridge over the Cávado River into Esposende's town centre.

Start at the seafront and follow the waymarked path north along the coast.

Home to the Moinhos da Apúlia — a row of restored windmills right on the dunes, and the best photo stop on the stage. A good place to pause for coffee.

Tips for this stage
- Start early in summer — the boardwalk sections have little shade
- Bring sun protection; several stretches are fully exposed to the coast
- Apúlia (14km) is a good coffee and rest stop, roughly two-thirds of the way
- Carry at least 1.5L of water, especially in warmer months
